*Online registration closes at noon (local time) the Friday before the walk. However, anyone who would like to participate can register in person at the walk during the check-in times listed above. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.

SUPPORT THE ATLANTA OUT OF THE DARKNESS COMMUNITY WALK

Join us at the Visitors Center in Piedmont Park for the 11th Annual Atlanta Out of the Darkness Community Walk taking place on Sunday, November 9th at 2:00 pm Rain or Shine. There is no entry fee and no minimum donation but all we do in Georgia comes from funds raised right here and we are working on/hoping for 100% fundraising by our participants this year.   Those who raise $150 individually get our 2014 t-shirt.

Check-In/registration takes place from 1-2 pm. We accept cash, checks (made out to AFSP) and credit cards for at the registration area.

This year, we will walk the park loop once for a total of 1.68 miles. A park map and parking information is available here: http://piedmontpark.org/visit/park_map.html. Take MARTA (http://www.itsmarta.com/) or park cars in the SAGE Parking Facility.  Friendly leashed dogs and children in strollers welcome.  The Visitors Center is where we will be and is #16 on the park map.  Allow 15 minutes to get from parking deck or MARTA to the Visitors Center.

At the Survivor Craft Area this year we’ll be making a bottle cap craft.  Bring a small photo, trinkets, etc to make your unique bottle cap.  Photos etc should fit inside cap (no need to precut, we’ll help with that).  One per person while supplies last (between 1-2 pm).   We will also have a Survivor Resource Area manned by our Survivor Outreach volunteers.

Following the walk, we’ll have a dove release.  Top 10 fundraisers will be notified via email the week before the walk about releasing a dove with instructions on where to be, etc.

RUN OF SHOW:

1-2 pm:  Check-In/Registration in front of Visitors Center

2:00 pm:  Opening ceremonies at dockside (behind Visitors Center)

~2:15 pm:  Walk starts at balloon arch by Visitors Center led by one of our walk teams

~3:05 pm:  Walk ends with closing ceremony/dove release at dockside (behind Visitors Center)
