The annual Sacramento Out of the Darkness Community Walk will take place on 10/4/14 at the State Capitol and we are looking forward to another incredible event!

The Sacramento Walk is coming up THIS SATURDAY 10.04.14, and We have a record number of walkers registering and are on track for our biggest year yet!

Top Team Challenge:

Congratulations once again to team JPF for last year's incredible fundraising effort as ur Top Team in 2013!

The Top Team on the day prior to the walk (10/3/14) will carry the walk banner and lead the walk!

Walk Details and Activities:

As always, we will have a raffle drawing with great prizes from local businesses, Community Partners from the Greater Sacramento Area, Chapter representatives to help fill you in on everything AFSP is doing in our communities, refreshments, and much more!

Remembrance Activities:

Walk Route Details:

The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a 3-5 mile scenic walk taking place in more than 300 communities across the country this fall. Proceeds will benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, to fund research, education, survivor and awareness programs — both to prevent suicide and to assist those affected by suicide.

The Walk begins and ends at the State Capitol west steps and we will have details and route specifics posted soon.

Dogs are welcome at the Walk. People and canine friendly ones only please & please clean up after your dog!

Volunteer with Us on Walk Day:

Volunteer with us on Walk Day and help us make the Sacramento Out of the Darkness Community Walk a success. Our walk is planned and managed by Volunteers just like you, and we would love to have your help on the day of the walk. 

We'll have volunteers helping with everything from Event Set Up & Breakdown to Food and Beverage Stations, the Honor Bead Tent, Route Support, Prize Giveaways, and much more!

Sponsorship Opportunities:

Our generous local sponsors help make our Sacramento Area Out of the Darkness Walks possible. Sponsoring a walk is a great way for local businesses to support their communities and to be more visible.

This year's Sacramento Out of the Darkness Community Walk will be held on the West Steps of the State Capitol once again. For driving directions, transit, and parking details, please see the map and links below.

 

*Online registration closes at noon (local time) the Friday before the walk. However, anyone who would like to participate can register in person at the walk during the check-in times listed above. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.
