The Out of the Darkness Community Walks are the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's (AFSP) signature fundraising campaign, bringing together family, friends, colleagues, and supporters at 3-5 mile walks in hundreds of communities across the country.

Route will be Cross Island Trail from Kent Narrows to Gibson’s Grant and return to Chesapeake Heritage Center, @ 3 miles long. Click here for Map.
DIRECTIONS TO WALK LOCATION (There will be signs to guide you):
FROM CHESTERTOWN AND OTHER POINTS NORTH: Take Rt. 213 South through Centreville and follow directions (below) from Centreville.
FROM CENTREVILLE, QUEENSTOWN, DENTON, EASTON, CAMBRIDGE, AND OTHER POINTS EAST: Follow Rt.301 West toward the Bay Bridge and take the first exit after crossing the Kent Narrows Bridge, Exit 41 toward Kent Narrows West. Take the first left onto Piney Narrows Road, and the parking lot will be immediately on your left.
FROM ANNAPOLIS, STEVENSVILLE, CHESTER, AND OTHER POINTS WEST: Follow Rt. 50 East and take the last exit before crossing the Kent Narrows Bridge, Exit 41 toward Kent Narrows West. Turn left onto MD-18/Main Street. Turn left onto Piney Narrows Road, and follow the road under the Rt. 50 overpass. Take the first right to stay on Piney Narrows Road, and the parking lot will be immediately on your left.
PAWS FOR PREVENTION:
Dogs are welcome at the Walk. Register your four-legged friend, putting PET at the end of their last name and for a $10 donation you will receive a FREE AFSP Pooch Bandana!
Please remember to pick up your Honor Beads at the Walk to acknowledge your personal connection to the cause and to help you identify with others who may know just how you feel.
If you are a survivor of suicide loss, we encourage you to bring no larger than a 8”x 10” photo of your loved one to the Walk to add to our Remembrance Area
