*Online registration closes at noon (local time) the Friday before the walk. However, anyone who would like to participate can register in person at the walk during the check-in times listed above. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.

The Out of the Darkness Community Walks are the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's (AFSP) signature fundraising campaign, bringing together family, friends, colleagues, and supporters at 3-5 mile walks in hundreds of communities across the country.

When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Community Walks, you join the effort with thousands of people to raise funds and awareness for AFSP's vision to create a world without suicide.

This year’s walk will be on the Farmington Canal on Sherman Ave. in Hamden - directly across from the entrance to the Quinnipiac University York Hill Campus (use this marker to locate Trail entrance on Google Maps). Please plan to park on the street and in surrounding area parking lots. Look for signs in the neighborhood!

Directions from the North: Take Whitney Ave (Rt 10) South until you get to Sherman Ave. Take a right at the Dunkin Donuts and the entrance to the Canal Trail will be on the left.
Directions from the South: Take Dixwell Ave (Rt 10) North until you get to Shepard Ave. Take a left at the IHOP restaurant to go onto Shepard Ave. When you see the YMCA take a Right onto Sherman Ave at that intersection. At the next light take a Left to stay onto Sherman Ave. Follow Sherman Ave all the way to the Canal Trail entrance which will be on your Right.
