INFORMATION, TIPS AND FAQ's

Weare happy to have you walking with us for suicide prevention on Saturday. Our Leadership Team volunteers are looking forward to meeting you, and we hope that many of you will meet and share with each other, or enjoy walking with your team.

What time should I arrive on Saturday?  Registration will begin at 8:30 AM.  We encourage you to arrive early to avoid any lines. Come early to register so you have time to meet each other. There will be snacks and water. You can also get your team picture taken so come early and beat the crowd!

Turning in Donations:  When you check in at registration, this is when we can check you off our list and make sure you are credited for all the money you have raised-every nickel counts! Bring all checks or cash contributions with you to turn in, together with your sponsor sheet or other record of who donated what. We will have a separate record of your on-line donations. You still can ask co-workers, acquaintances and neighbors - tell them what you are doing for this Saturday, even the smallest donations add up quickly.

Opening Ceremony:The Opening Ceremony will begin at 9:30 AM and The Walk will start at 10 AM.

Resources and Support:  Look for our AFSP Puget Sound Chapter table with information about how to get more involved with formation of an AFSP chapter in the Puget Sound and helpful information published by American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

SURVIVOR'S DAY: Remember that November 21st is National Survivors of Suicide Loss Day. Pick up a flyer with the times and places for this teleconference & gathering.

Beads and Wrist Bands Table:  You also can pick up free beads to wear - they are color-coded according to your connection with suicide - survivor of suicide loss, supportive friend, one who experiences depression, etc.  We will also be selling our popular blue and green Out of the Darkness wrist bands for just $1.00!

Closing Ceremony and Thank You Drawing:
The Closing Ceremony, which includes a wonderful Thank You Drawing, will begin between 11:15 and 11:30 AM and will be followed by our Closing Ritual.

BRING FRIENDS! If you have family, friends, or colleagues who have not registered online, they can do that by this Friday or they can register at Green Lake. Remember - there is no fee to register. There's food, drink and music, as well as some meaningful, short talks.

WATER! We will have some water available but you might want to bring your own as well.

Do I have to go Registration if already registered online?  EVERYONE  needs to check in at Registration even if you already registered online.  It is where you pick up your Thank You prize drawing ticket(s), your Out of the Darkness t-shirt if you have raised $150 or more, turn in any donations you have and get any last minute information.

Can I register just once for my entire family?  We ask that each person register individually so we can keep an accurate count of the number of attendees.  You can, however all register at the same time.

Can I bring my children? What about dogs?  Yes!  We have many children participating in the walk from babies to teens. And yes, leashed dogs are welcome as well!

What if a family member doesn't want to do the actual walk?  No problem, there will be staff and volunteers who remain at the walk site, so nobody will be there alone.

How long is the walk?  2.9 miles

Will bathrooms be available? There will be bathrooms at the start and finish of The Walk and about 1/2 way thorough The Walk.

What is the weather like? Dress in layers!  The forcast doesn't predict rain but it will be a chilly morning.  The day will most likely warm up as The Walk is beginning.

How do I get to Green Lake Park?  The opening and closing ceremonies will be on the NE side of the lake by the community center across the street from Starbucks.  Click here for a map
