Fundraising Page for Fairfax NOVA Walk
October 24, 2009 at George Mason University
Dear Family & Friends,
Thank you so much for your support for me and this cause, and for your generosity thus far. Please spread the word about this walk and help me reach my fund-raising goal by donating and forwarding this to your friends and family.
I've chosen $1996 as my goal because that's the year my sister left us.
In doing this Out of the Darkness Community Walk, I am hoping to bring light to the dark issue of suicide. No one should have to go through what my family and friends have gone through, mourning a suicide. The suicide of a loved one leaves us grief-stricken, confused, and angry. It leaves us feeling as though we failed our loved one. What could we have done to prevent it? And worse, there is the stigma of suicide. People judge. But it is not how the person died, it is how they lived. No one ever knows all the details. Help me bring light to the darkness. Help me celebrate my sister's life. Let's try to prevent others from having to experience devastating loss from suicide.
I will be joining with hundreds of people on October 24, 2009 to walk in AFSP's 2009 Out of the Darkness Community Walk to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. I would appreciate any support that you give me for this worthwhile cause.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. With more than 32,000 lives lost each year in the U.S. and over one million worldwide, the importance of AFSP's mission has never been greater, nor our work more urgent.
I hope you will consider supporting my participation in this event. Any contribution will help the work of AFSP, and all donations are 100% tax deductible. I know times are tough, but any amount will do.
Donating online is safe and easy! To make an online donation please click the "Support This Participant" button on this page.
