Team Captain Team Round Hill Drew Westchester County Walk

Join Me in Supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

I'm walking in the Out of the Darkness Westchester County Walk to fight suicide and support AFSP's bold goal to reduce the suicide rate 20% by 2025.

I started Team around Hill Drew for the 2013 Westchester walk in memory of my brother, Andrew (Drew) Roach. Unfortunately when we lost Andrew on November 2, 2012 it wasn't our first time experiencing a loss to suicide. We first lost my mother, Meta in December of 2000 and my grandmother, Meta, in August of 2003.

Andrew was a true friend to many and was always willing to help out no matter what the sacrifice would be for him. That dedication is what lead him to his dream of being a firefighter and he achieved that dream when he joined the Round Hill Volunteer Fire Company on December 7, 2011. My hope is that with my team we can keep Andrew's spirit of giving alive through raising money and awareness to one day live in a world without suicide. Each year since Andrew's passing Team Round Hill Drew has participated in the AFSP Westchester Community walk, in October 2016 we will be participating in our 4th community walk. To date Team Round Hill Drew has raised $9,764.98 towards stopping suicice.

Although my family is what sparked me to be involved in the AFSP walks, it has continued to stretch out beyond that, every time I see another story cross my Facebook feed of another loss to suicide, I feel the pain that the family feels, I know that pain and I really hope that one day no one will have to know what that pain is like or be left asking, why? I also walk for my friends and family that still struggle with mental illness because they are the ones that still need our help, and they need to know that there is still hope and someone there to support them through whatever journey they need to take to begin healing. Those that still struggle need to know that they can reach out to friends and professionals for the help they need and that at the end of the day there will be someone to fall back on when they need it.

Please help me reach my goal by clicking the "Donate" button on this page. All donations are 100% tax deductible and benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), funding research, education, advocacy, and support for those affected by suicide.

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated to this and all of my previous walks, it really means a lot to me to know that I have so many people behind me on each of these walks and through so much more. xoxo
