Cindy Bertossa-Weger

Dear Friends and Family,

As many of you know, my sister, Jenny, was mentally ill and died of suicide when she was 27. I have made it my mission in life to prevent any family from ever having to go through such pain. As a result, I volunteer with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. I am the Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors in Los Angeles and also serve on the Out of the Darkness Community Walk committee. I am also a Field Advocate, which means I've been to Washington D.C. to lobby for mental health funding and suicide prevention programs - a truly amazing experience.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. With more than 33,000 lives lost each year in the U.S. and over one million worldwide, the importance of AFSP's mission has never been greater, nor our work more urgent.

I have been overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity these past few years since I've become involved with AFSP. Your donations make a huge difference in our communities and we are so grateful. I cannot begin to thank you enough.

Thankyouthankyouthankyou!

~Cindy

10/23/2012 Cindy, your sister touched my life in Jr. High School and throughout High School. She was a beautiful person and always kind to me. She made me work harder to see if I could measure up to her smartness. Currently I am going through my own private hell in life. I have been in those dark places and back. Each and every day is a struggle. I manage because I have a wonderful therapist who holds my hand and kicks me when I need it I pray everyday I stay out of the darkness. Thank you for all you do.
