Dear Friends,
I have registered a team to walk in the Out of the Darkness Community Walk for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) I will be joining thousands of walkers worldwide to raise awareness and help with suicide prevention. I would appreciate any support that you give me for this worthwhile cause.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. With more than 36,000 lives lost each year in the U.S. and over one million worldwide, the importance of AFSP's mission has never been greater, nor our work more urgent.
Last year alone, right here in Utah, we had 11,503 suicide attempts in high school age youth and 300 who received serious medical care for their attempt. But because of generous donations, we are making a difference! This past year our Chapter was an integral part in getting legislation passed that requires all educators in Utah to have suicide awareness and prevention training. We also raised enough through our walk last year to provide the More Than Sad DVD which is an educational video about suicide for students and teachers to every High School in Utah. So thank you for your support.
We have to make a difference for our youth and create a world without suicide.
