Hi there!

As many of you know, I became very involved in suicide prevention since moving to Denver in 2008. For me, the work has been both enlightening and energizing, and at times, heartbreaking. Though I have been fortunate not to have a suicide within my family or within my close friends, I have dozens and dozens of close friends and peers who have faced the loss of a child, parent, sibling or dear friend and who have let me share their stories and be a part of their world. For this I am honored and humbled.

On September 8, I will be joining with 1,000+ people to participate in AFSP's South Metro Walk to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. AFSP is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. Suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States (Colorado ranked 7th in 2010) but remains woefully unfunded, particularly in research. AFSP helps to make research in suicide prevention possible.
