Fundraising Page for Marathons
December 31, 2015 at Park
Dear Family and Friends,
Over a year ago, I lost my Dad to suicide. As a middle school teacher, I have experienced multiple students who have attempted suicide as well. This has instilled in me a passion to prevent this in any way possible. On September 22nd,2012, I will be running in the Denver Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. I would appreciate any support that you give me for this worthwhile cause.
I will be running with a good friend and coworker, Kristin Ayala. As teachers, both Kristin and I have seen the impact that suicide can have on students both directly and indirectly from family and friends. We both feel that the problem is very misunderstood by most people. Often individuals don't know what they can do to get help. The AFSP is working to remedy this by putting the resources in the hands of people that will use them.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. With more than 33,000 lives lost each year in the U.S. and over one million worldwide, the importance of AFSP's mission has never been greater, nor our work more urgent.
I hope you will consider supporting my participation in this event. Any contribution will help the work of AFSP, and all donations are 100% tax deductible.
