Welcome to the In Memory of Luke fundraising page!

We will be joining with thousands of people nationwide this fall to walk in AFSP's 2009 Out of the Darkness Community Walk to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and we would appreciate any support that you give for this worthwhile cause.

On September 16, 1996, we lost our son, Luke, to suicide. Over the last near-13 years, we have learned to live with the pain through the Knoxville Suicide Grievers' Support Group, which is hosting this Community Walk. John and I now co-facilitate the support group along with P.J. Alexander, a licensed clinical social work and certified grief counselor. This year's walk (Knoxville's first annual) will be held on October 24, 2009--the day before what would have been Luke's 30th birthday.


The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. With more than 32,000 lives lost each year in the U.S. and over one million worldwide, the importance of AFSP's mission has never been greater, nor our work more urgent.



Any contribution will help the work of AFSP, and all donations are 100% tax deductible.
