Welcome to the Tom Dawson Fan Club: Phi Mu & Sigma Nu fundraising page!
My dad, Tom Dawson, passed away in the summer of 2011 after losing his battle with depression. He lived his life by loving and giving to others, so I found it most appropriate to start a team in his honor to hopefully prevent another life from being lost and another family from going through what we've had to go through these past couple of months.
My dad was a Sigma Nu at James Madison University and graduated in '83. My dad went on to law school where he met my mom who was a Phi Mu and University of Virginia graduate. I am honored that Phi Mu, my sorority as well, and Sigma Nu are willing to walk with me and raise money in honor of my dad. I'm so thankful for everyone's support and I hope that this walk will raise awareness on campus and most importantly save a life. I wish my dad was here to see all of the love that his friends, family, and the JMU community has for him!
We will be joining with thousands of people nationwide this fall to walk in the Out of the Darkness Campus Walks to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), and we would appreciate any support that you give for this worthwhile cause.
The AFSP is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. With more than 33,000 lives lost each year in the U.S. and over one million worldwide, the importance of AFSP's mission has never been greater, nor our work more urgent.
Any contribution will help the work of AFSP, and all donations are 100% tax deductible.
