Our beloved son and brother took his life on 7 December, 2017 at Misawa AFB, Japan.

We do not know why, we may never know why but we do know that he had family, friends and co-workers that loved him.

Born and raised in Hawaii, Chris graduated from Mililani High School in 2010, graduated with an Associates degree from Honolulu Community College in MELE (Music Education and Learning Experience) and in 2015, received his Bachelors of Science in Audio Engineering from Belmont University, Nashville, TN.

He had decided during his last semester that Audio Engineering wouldn't pay the career salary he hoped for and joined the Air Force.  Chris went to basic training at Lackland, AFB followed by Tech Training at Keesler AFB, Biloxi, MI and then his first duty station at Misawa, AFB this past February 2017.

Chris loved everything to do with water, whether in liquid form or snow.  In Hawaii, he body boarded and took videos with his GoPro camera.  At Misawa, he snowboarded, again, taking his trusted GoPro and surfed and body boarded even when light snow was falling.  Thank heaven for wet and dry suits.  He had a keen and artistic eye for capturing images, still or video, and even created awesome self-portraits and other artwork during community college using chalk  His black and white photo stills showcased his talent for capturing images with a unique and perceptive 'third-eye'.

And his friends; no matter where Chris traveled, he carried the proud Aloha Spirit and Japanese culture, proud of his Hawaiian warrior and Samurai backgrounds.  He fought against discrimination, bigotry, racism and oh my, did he hate bullying.  He'd always support those who did not have their own voice or were too afraid to speak or be heard.

We believe that the weight of the world was on his shoulders and he knew that his one voice could not solve the world's problems.  He needed to show the way for others to follow.

Our beloved son leaves behind his younger brother who will carry on in his footsteps, supported by family and friends and supporters of AFSP.  It is our hope that this memorial fund will save one life, educate one person regarding suicide.  That they will seek the help they need.  His life must not be in vain

A hui hou kakou, Chris.  Aloha, E.

Love and Aloha Conquers All.
