Dear Friends and Family,

Our beautiful daughter, Madeline Muth, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015. She was loved by many and especially cherished by her brother, Chandler. Madeline was a beautiful person inside and out and will be missed by us all. Her smile would light up the room. Her shining unconditional love for everyone is something that will live on through the thousands of hearts she had touched.

Madeline shared her struggles with depression and the stigma surrounding mental illness when she was the Celebration of Life speaker at AFSP’s 1st annual Coachella Valley Out of the Darkness Walk in Palm Desert on March 19, 2011. She was a champion for this cause and we will continue her work to"Go out and be the person to make a difference". 

Her struggles were not rare; Nearly one in every five people, or 42.5 million American adults, has a diagnosable mental health condition. Half of all lifetime cases of mental disorders begin by age 14. Often our friends, neighbors, co-workers, and even family members are suffering emotionally and don't recognize the symptoms or won't ask for help. 

By creating this Memorial Fund, we hope to raise awareness of the serious threat that mental illness can pose and the treatment options that can help people overcome it. If one person can be saved from the illness that killed Madeline, our efforts to raise money for this cause in her memory will be worthwhile.
