Britt's daughter Catharine has been a volunteer for AFSP since the summer of 2014. She began as a member of the planning committee for the Santa Monica Out of the Darkness Community Walk in Los Angeles and has now been a member of the Board of Directors for the Greater Los Angeles for a year and a half. AFSP's mission is to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. They’ve set a bold goal to reduce the annual suicide rate in the U.S. 20 percent by 2025, and they are achieving this through comprehensive nationwide programming including funding research, advocating for suicide prevention and mental health policies at the state and national level, providing suicide prevention trainings to schools and communities, and providing loss and healing pro grams to people who have been affected by suicide.
