The natural disasters of both Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma have stunned our country. Particularly, the impact of Hurricane Irma has profoundly affected the beautiful state of Florida in our AFSP Southern Division and has touched the lives of many – leaving widespread devastation. Those who are at risk of suicide may be struggling even more as they cope with heartbreaking losses.
The need for suicide prevention resources and programming and suicide loss survivor support are significant in the aftermath of Harvey and Irma. Persons affected by the disasters will continue to struggle and need support during the recovery efforts. Please consider donating to AFSP today. Let's come together as an AFSP community of caring souls to comfort each other, support each other and to bring hope to one another, all while raising funds to SAVE LIVES by preventing suicide here in Alabama. If you have not yet made a donation, we urge you to please do so now.
Online registration closes at noon (local time) the Friday before the walk. However, anyone who would like to participate can register in person at the walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.
When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.
