Information tables hosted by local businesses and non-profit organizations will open at 8:30 am. This will be an opportunity to gather literature, hear about upcoming events, and connect with others who are dedicated to raising awareness of mental illness and suicide, strengthening prevention efforts, and providing support to those impacted by suicide loss.

FAMILY ACTIVITIES

The top 10 fundraisers and all children are invited to join us on stage for our butterfly release during the opening ceremony on walk day!

ACTIVITIES OF HOPE AND HEALING

We will have activities of hope and healing including an opportunity to honor a loved one with a memory sign.

Dedicate a sign in memory of a loved one lost to suicide. These signs will be placed along the walk as a memorial to those we have lost and as a reminder of why we fight to bring the issue of suicide out of the darkness and help those who may still be struggling.

For a $50 donation, a sign will be created in memory of your loved one and personalized with a message or quote. After the Walk is finished, you are welcome to take your sign home.

If you are interested, click here to download the order form, all forms need to be received back by Wednesday, September 20th.

Honor Beads:
Losing someone to suicide or struggling with a mental illness can feel like no one understands what you are going through. Unlike other illnesses, it is difficult to look at someone and know their connection.

The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance and a walk that unites a community – a time to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental illness have affected our lives and our loved ones. We all wear honor beads - each color shows our personal connection to the cause, and helps us identify others who understand our experience

Online registration closes at noon the Friday before the walk. However, anyone who would like to participate can register in person at the walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Walk donations are accepted until June 30th.

When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow AFSP to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.

As the leader in the fight against suicide, and thanks to walkers like you from cities across the country, AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025.

Click the Register Now button at the top of the page to get started right away.

Thank you for your support! We look forward to seeing you at the walk!
