Online registration closes at noon (local time) the Friday before the walk. However, anyone who would like to participate can register in person at the walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Registration is free and open to the public. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.
When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.
Thanks to Walkers and Donors like you, AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025.

There are a number of opportunities available to help on the day of the Manassas Walk. If you are interested in volunteering with us at the Manassas Walk on September 9th, please complete this Volunteer Sign-Up Form. Also, if you know any individuals or groups that may be interested in volunteering as well, please share the link to the above volunteer sign-up form or contact Ellen Shannon at email@example.com.
The walk route is approximately 3 miles and is paved and relatively flat. Walkers can absolutely bring strollers on the walk with them as this event is for the whole family. See Walk Map Here.
Be sure to arrive early to allow time to explore the resources area with information tables hosted by local businesses and non-profit organizations. This will be an opportunity to gather literature, hear about upcoming events, and connect with others who are dedicated to raising awareness of mental illness and suicide, strengthening prevention efforts, and providing support to those impacted by suicide loss or mental illness.
The Manassas Walk welcomes all ages to attend! Bring the whole family and enjoy fun activities with you little ones at our Children’s Activity Area!
Memories are our precious keepsakes of the loved ones we love so much. Please bring a picture, quote and/or special poem for your loved one that can be included in the Remembrance Book.
Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome at the Walk. AND with a $10 donation, you can pick up an AFSP dog bandana for your best friend!
