ACTIVITIES OF HOPE AND HEALING

Wall of Hope & Healing – We will provide a large banner and markers for everyone to write names and/or messages of hope, healing and support for those who are struggling or in remembrance of loved ones. You are also welcome to bring photos that can fit into an 8 ½ x 11 clear plastic cover.

Butterfly Release – We will have butterflies for children and families to release at the end of the closing ceremony.

Honor Bead Ceremony - We all wear honor beads - each color shows our personal connection to the cause and helps us identify others who understand our experience.

Honor Beads:

Losing someone to suicide or struggling with a mental illness can feel like no one understands what you are going through. Unlike other illnesses, it is difficult to look at someone and know their connection.

The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance and a walk that unites a community – a time to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental illness have affected our lives and our loved ones. We all wear honor beads - each color shows our personal connection to the cause, and helps us identify others who understand our experience.

Online registration closes at noon (local time) the Friday before the walk. However, anyone who would like to participate can register in person at the walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.
