ACTIVITIES OF HOPE AND HEALING

As part of this year's Out of the Darkness Walk, we will be hosting a Wall of Hope and Healing. Walkers are invited to bring a picture of a loved one or a message of hope to hang on this wall.

GUIDELINES FOR REMEMBRANCE LETTERS & PICTURES:

*Pictures or letters be should no larger than 8-1/2" x 11"

*Items should be no more than one page, but may have print on both sides.

*Walkers may want to bring copies of photos or letters (versus the originals) as we will be outside in the elements, and we do not want any valued items to be damaged or lost.

*Walkers will be responsible for picking up their items after they have completed the walk.

Honor Beads:

Losing someone to suicide or struggling with a mental illness can feel like no one understands what you are going through. Unlike other illnesses, it is difficult to look at someone and know their connection.

The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance and a walk that unites a community – a time to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental illness have affected our lives and our loved ones. We all wear honor beads - each color shows our personal connection to the cause, and helps us identify others who understand our experience

TACOS IN A BAG

Thanks to our wonderful supporters at Food Services of America, Tacos in a bag will be served throughout registration for a free will donation. (While supplies last)

Online registration closes at noon (local time) the day before the walk. However, anyone who would like to participate can register in person at the walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Registration is free and open to the public. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.

When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow AFSP to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.

As the leader in the fight against suicide, and thanks to walkers like you from cities across the country, AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025.
