WALK DAY INFORMATION

Greetings Houston Area Lifesavers!

We are super excited about the walk on Saturday and hope that you are as ecstatic as we are.  Below you will find some helpful information about what to expect on walk day. See you Saturday!

1. The Weather

The walk will commence rain or shine.  The weather is expected to be sunny and beautiful! With a  low of 52 the night before and high of 74, expect a little chill early in the day. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes appropriate for the weather.

2. Arrival & Check-In

Registration begins promptly at 9:00AM with the walk program beginning at 10AM.  (Walk commences directly after around 10:30AM. Take this time before the walk to check out our sponsor and vendor exhibits as well as supporting businesses. Light refreshments and complimentary water provided to all walkers, with Kelly's Heroes food truck available to sell lunch by 11 a.m.

We’re cutting down the line!  Check in with one of our “speedy check-in” volunteers who will be walking around the park to register participants who do not have money to turn in or do not need to pick up a t-shirt.

Raise $150 or more and get a t-shirt for this year's walk.

3. Event Parking:

There is plenty of free parking surrounding the walk site.  Below are the directions to free parking.   Do not park in the HEB parking lot across the Lake Robbins Dr. You will be towed.

FROM DOWNTOWN HOUSTON: Take Interstate 45 or the Hardy Toll Road north. Exit Woodlands Parkway. Go straight thru the Six Pines Drive light and follow the signs to the next available free parking lot.

FROM CONROE: Take Interstate 45 south. Exit Research Forest Drive. Turn right on Research Forest Drive. Take a left onto Grogan’s Mill Road. Continue on Grogan’s Mill Road. Proceed to Timberloch Place and follow the signs to the next available free lot. From Timberloch Place you can access the Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue and White free lots. Please visit this website for a view of the parking map.

4. The Walk Route

We're taking our walk along The Woodlands Waterway.  The Woodlands Waterway has a way of drawing you right to it. It’s beautiful the way it runs through the center of what is considered The Woodlands “downtown”. On one hand it’s a leisurely way to get around the area. On another, it connects you to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, Waterway Square, The Woodlands Mall and a wealth of restaurants and entertainment choices.  The 2 mile walking path is ideal for any participant whether you are walkers, runners, dancers, bikers, skaters, in strollers or wheelchairs.  There's something to see on every side, so make sure to enjoy the scenery as you take your journey.

Look for our volunteers to direct and cheer you along the way. If you need medical assistance along the way, please alert one of the checkpoint volunteers.

6. Who should I contact if I have questions

MEET OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Jackie James, founder of Kindness Matters, an organization dedicating to raising awareness and prevention of suicide. Jacki started the Kindness Matters movement in honor of her 13 year old son, Peyton, who took his life after years of being bullied.  What started as a social media campaign has now brought Peyton's story and the Kindness Matters message to over 60 schools in Texas and has a global internet presence.  Kindness Matters is not an anti-bully campaign, but rather a pro-kindness one because not everyone is a bully, but everyone can be kinder to others.  We hope to encourage people to change the world, one kind act at a time.

HAVE YOU REGISTERED?

Don't forget that raising $150 by the day of the walk will earn you a complimentary walk day t-shirt. Remember, in addition to fundraising online, you will be able to turn in additional cash or check donations at the registration table the day of the Walk. Special thanks to those who have raised funds so far, your dedication is truly appreciated! As an added bonus, our top 3 individual walkers and top 3 fundraising teams will be invited to our Kick-Off Event on Thursday evening, November 1st, where you will be treated to sips and bites from local caterers and distributors with conversation and speeches from our sponsors and community leaders. Join our committee members, vendors, sponsors, speakers and other top fundraisers to support each other in preparation for the big day.

LIFESAVERS' HARBOR PROGRAM

New this year is our Lifesavers' Harbor program. The program is designed to further reward top           fundraisers and help them find an area to dedicate to gathering with their family, friends and team   members on walk day. All teams who raise $3,000 or more will be treated to a complimentary 10' x 10'   tented area and custom team sign in a dedicated area of the park. Teams can bring chairs, snacks,   memorabilia and decorations to make their personal space comfortable and special.
