4. The Walk Route
We're taking our walk along The Woodlands Waterway. The Woodlands Waterway has a way of drawing you right to it. It’s beautiful the way it runs through the center of what is considered The Woodlands “downtown”. On one hand it’s a leisurely way to get around the area. On another, it connects you to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, Waterway Square, The Woodlands Mall and a wealth of restaurants and entertainment choices. The 2 mile walking path is ideal for any participant whether you are walkers, runners, dancers, bikers, skaters, in strollers or wheelchairs. There's something to see on every side, so make sure to enjoy the scenery as you take your journey.
Look for our volunteers to direct and cheer you along the way. If you need medical assistance along the way, please alert one of the checkpoint volunteers.
6. Who should I contact if I have questions
Jackie James, founder of Kindness Matters, an organization dedicating to raising awareness and prevention of suicide. Jacki started the Kindness Matters movement in honor of her 13 year old son, Peyton, who took his life after years of being bullied. What started as a social media campaign has now brought Peyton's story and the Kindness Matters message to over 60 schools in Texas and has a global internet presence. Kindness Matters is not an anti-bully campaign, but rather a pro-kindness one because not everyone is a bully, but everyone can be kinder to others. We hope to encourage people to change the world, one kind act at a time.
Don't forget that raising $150 by the day of the walk will earn you a complimentary walk day t-shirt. Remember, in addition to fundraising online, you will be able to turn in additional cash or check donations at the registration table the day of the Walk. Special thanks to those who have raised funds so far, your dedication is truly appreciated! As an added bonus, our top 3 individual walkers and top 3 fundraising teams will be invited to our Kick-Off Event on Thursday evening, November 1st, where you will be treated to sips and bites from local caterers and distributors with conversation and speeches from our sponsors and community leaders. Join our committee members, vendors, sponsors, speakers and other top fundraisers to support each other in preparation for the big day.
New this year is our Lifesavers' Harbor program. The program is designed to further reward top fundraisers and help them find an area to dedicate to gathering with their family, friends and team members on walk day. All teams who raise $3,000 or more will be treated to a complimentary 10' x 10' tented area and custom team sign in a dedicated area of the park. Teams can bring chairs, snacks, memorabilia and decorations to make their personal space comfortable and special.
Music and Fun - Music and entertainment will be provided by Piggott Music with a beautiful performance by Paisley Piggott, daughter of David and Shari Piggott right.
