When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.
Thanks to Walkers and Donors like you, AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025.
Click the Register Now button at the top of the page to get started right away.
Due to the amount of rain we are currently experiencing, please park in the A.V. Symington Aquatics Center parking lot. See where to park HERE.
The walk route is approximately 2.8 miles and is mostly paved and relatively flat. Walkers can absolutely bring strollers on the walk with them as this event is for the whole family. See Walk Map Here.
Please note that the walk route will slightly change if the registration/check-in area, pre-walk programs and activities are set up in the “Gravel Lot” due to the wet conditions on the field. If that is the case, new instructions on where to start/finish the walk will be provided at the walk.
With all the rain we may get this week, there is no way of yet knowing what the condition of the field will be on Sunday. Therefore, we would like to let you know that we may move the check-in/registration area, pre-walk program and activities to the “Gravel Lot” to the left of the A.V. Symington Aquatics Center parking lot. See map HERE. Please know that we will either be set up in the “Gravel Parking Lot” area on the map or in the “Gazebo/Field” area. You should be able to see both clearly from where you will park in the A.V. Symington Aquatics Center parking lot.
