We are so excited to bring the Out of the Darkness Campus Walk back to Duquesne University for its 3rd year! The walk kicks off our annual Week of Wellbeing to promote mental wellness and suicide prevention. Last spring, we had over 120 walkers -- a mix of students, faculty, and community members -- join the event to raise awareness and funds for suicide prevention. With past walk funds, we have already held numerous mental health and suicide prevention training programs at Duquesne, including our "Talk Saves Lives" and "It's Real: College Students & Mental Health" programs with more coming up this school year. This year, we hope to get more student clubs and teams involved and doing fundraising for the walk, as well as helping us fight the mental illness stigma and make people feel empowered to seek help when struggling or in crisis.
Encourage everyone you know to REGISTER, DONATE, and JOIN the movement to save lives!
Please help promote the event through your social media outlets! Use #OutoftheDarkness
Raise $100 by 04/06/2019 and receive an official Out of the Darkness Campus Walk T-shirt! Shirts are awarded for any walker who personally reaches this goal and are only awarded on walk day.
Remember, in addition to fundraising online, you will be able to turn in additional cash or check donations at the registration table the day of the Walk.
The Out of the Darkness Campus Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, support, and a walk that unites a campus and community – a time to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental illness have affected our lives and our loved ones.
More activities for the Duquesne University walk will be announced as we get closer. If your student club or team or department would like to get involved with hosting an activity or resource table at the walk, please contact our walk chair using the contact info at the top of this page.

When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow AFSP to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.
As the leader in the fight against suicide, and thanks to walkers like you from cities across the country, AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025.
