Thanks to Walkers and Donors like you, AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025.

About the Walk
Please join us for the 3rd annual Fort Collins (FTC) Out of the Darkness Community Walk. We invite you to walk with us on the 3.6 mile scenic route at the Spring Canyon Park - Veterans Plaza at 2626 West Horsetooth Road to support suicide prevention. Click here to get a map of the Walk route. Note: the OOTD Walk is 2 laps around the park!
The Opening Ceremony will be held in front of flags at the Northern Colorado Veterans Plaza gathering area. Find your friends and meet your team members there!
Well-behaved dogs on leashes who are current with their vaccinations are able to accompany you on the Walk. However, don't forget to bring water bowls and doggie waste bags for your furry friends. There is a dog park at the south end of Spring Canyon Park where you can enjoy time with them after the Walk!
Visit the Resource Exhibit tables opening at 9:00 am. Meet local professionals, counselors, staff, and representatives from mental health and suicide prevention organizations that support the cause.
Visit the AFSP Table and review the latest AFSP reference materials and learn how to get involved with the AFSP Colorado chapter. Snap an individual or team photo with AFSP props and post to your social media accounts. AFSP swag will be available for purchase to support and raise awareness about the cause. Cash and credit cards are accepted.
Food trucks and a coffee truck will be set up near the Registration Area. The trucks will be serving breakfast and lunch options at various times. Vendors will be donating a percentage of their proceeds to the Walk. Water and snacks will be provided in the Registration Area before the Walk begins and during the Walk. A water station will be available along the Walk route.

Activities of Hope and Healing
Honor your loved one at the Memory Tree and/or Memory Rock Stations. Please bring a copy of your loved one's picture (4"x6" or smaller) to honor them at the Memory Tree. Pictures will not be returned and may be displayed at future Walks, awareness and educational events.
Losing someone to suicide or struggling with a mental illness can feel like no one understands what you are going through. Unlike other illnesses, it is difficult to look at someone and know their connection.
There is an honor bead for everyone, whether you have lost a loved one, struggle personally, support a friend and/or family member, or all of the above.
New this year - Honor loved ones during the Opening Ceremonies Butterfly Release. Purchase a butterfly (CASH ONLY) on a first come, first served basis, the morning of the walk.
The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, support, and a walk that unites a campus and community – a time to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental illness have affected our lives and our loved ones.
