Welcome to the Out of the Darkness Rochester NY Experience

Drop-In Event is Sun, Sept. 20th at

Veterans Memorial Park, Chase Pavilion in Henrietta - Assigned times only: Request your time here.

This will NOT be a traditional, full-on walk as in years past. We will have an in-person, drop-by experience the day of September 20th to stop by our ***NEW LOCATION*** of Veteran's Memorial Park, Chase Pavilion in Henrietta, to pick up your team's goodies, connect with the event committee, and participate in some self-guided stations, all following state and local guidelines. This is limited to a certain number of people at a time so as to abide by safety guidelines.

**You can sign up for a time slot HERE starting 9/7/20**

We won't be walking as a group, but encourage you to walk on September 20th on your terms: you get to choose your own course, what time you start, and who walks next to you (within safe distancing guidelines)! The walking is real—it's the community that's virtual this year.

Things we WILL do:

Adhere to ALL NYS guidelines.

ALL staff & volunteers will be wearing masks & gloves.

Adhere to the assigned drop-in times you signed up for.

Have hand sanitizer and masks available.

Have separate entrance and exit paths with social distance markers.

Have AFSP stations for you to experience, like a mini-event.

Have materials for you to pick up for the rest of your team (shirts, beads, etc)

Have volunteers to guide you.

Things we will NOT do in-person:

Have a vendor/community partner tent.

Have food/drinks for sale.

Arrive or walk all at the same time - feel free to arrange and meet your team at another time/place to walk on you own if you like!

Hang out at Chase Pavilion past your time slot.

Raise $150 by September 20th and receive an official Out of the Darkness Experience t-shirt! This will be a Western NY Chapter design worn by all of our events, special for 2020.

The Out of the Darkness Experience is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental illness have affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about.
