Welcome to the Out of the Darkness Buffalo Experience

Drop-In Event is Sat, Sept. 26th at Canalside - Assigned times only, and requests are now CLOSED as we are at capacity.

This will NOT be a traditional, full-on walk as in years past. We will have an in-person, drop-by experience the day of September 26th to stop in groups of two at Canalside to pick up your team's goodies, connect with the event committee, and participate in some self-guided stations, all following state and local guidelines. This is limited to a certain number of people at a time so as to abide by safety guidelines.

Things we WILL do:

Adhere to ALL NYS guidelines.

ALL staff & volunteers will be wearing masks & gloves.

Adhere to the assigned drop-in times you signed up for.

Have hand sanitizer and masks available.

Have separate entrance and exit paths with social distance markers.

Have AFSP stations for you to experience, like a mini-event.

Have materials for you to pick up for the rest of your team (shirts, beads, etc)

Have volunteers to guide you.

Things we will NOT do in-person:

Have a vendor/community partner tent.

Have food/drinks for sale.

Arrive or walk all at the same time - feel free to arrange and meet your team at another time/place to walk on you own if you like!

Hang out at Canalside past your time slot.

SAVE THE DATE: Saturday, October 17th for the Western NY Chapter-wide Day of HOPE online event - submit photos of those for whom you walk via Dropbox HERE.


Raise $150 by September 26th and receive an official Out of the Darkness Experience t-shirt! This will be a Western NY Chapter design worn by all of our events, special for 2020.

The Out of the Darkness Experience is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental illness have affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about.
