Welcome to the Out of the Darkness
Thank you all to all those that showed up and helped us make the best of the situation. In my opinion, although we had to modify our event A LOT, I think it ran smoothly and all of you were so great about adhering to the NYS guidelines. I did miss having the opening ceremony, guest speakers, bead ceremony and seeing everyone start all at once, but under the circumstances, I think it was still a success. The quiet event, gave me the opportunity to connect with so many of you and for that I am grateful. Usually, I am running around and don’t get the opportunity to put a face to your email name and to hear personally why you are there. So thank you for sharing your stories with me! I will email everyone the link for the 10/24 Virtual Event that will include all that we were unable to do in person. All the team photos have been posted to our chapter's Facebook page, please tag yourself and share!
Although the walk ended, your fundraising doesn’t have to stop. Donations are accepted until December 31st. If you need more wristbands and buttons, please let me know and I will mail them to you. If you are going to do a team fundraiser, let me know so I can advertise it! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly. Again, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

There are many more social media outlets, please use any and all to help promote the event. Tell your story about why you walk!
Honor Beads: Losing someone to suicide or struggling with a mental illness can feel like no one understands what you are going through. Unlike other illnesses, it is difficult to look at someone and know their connection. There is an honor bead for everyone, whether you have lost a loved one, struggle personally, support a friend and/or family member, or all of the above. Learn more by watching our honor bead video.
The Out of the Darkness Experience is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental illness have affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about.
