Welcome to the Out of the Darkness Tyler Experience
This has been a particularly challenging year. As safety is our number one priority, by necessity, things will look a little different. We will not be having the walk as usual, but we are working together to ensure that we have a meaningful way to connect. While we may not be able to walk side-by-side, we can still connect to support one another and raise awareness. As a community we can still come together to honor, hear and share hope.
We are always #TogetherToFightSuicide

Are will still walking to fight suicide?
The Tyler Out of the Darkness Experience is a real walk, but on your terms: choose what time works best for you, who walks with you (within social distancing guidelines), and how you will honor your journey. Be intentional about engaging in activities that honor your loved ones and support your own mental health!
We will be displaying the Out of the Darkness banner at Southside park two weeks prior to September 26th. We encourage teams to sign it with a message of hope and take a picture with the banner to share with us! If you share on social media, please use #TexasTogetherToFightSuicide and #afspTexas and or post to theAFSP Tyler Experience Facebook Page.

Activities of Hope and Healing
The Out of the Darkness Experience is a journey of remembrance, hope, and support. It unites our communities and provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental illness have affected our lives and the lives of those we love and care about.
We encourage you to participate in an activity that your loved one enjoyed or that brings you peace. Tyler co-chair Kay Pleasant will be fishing with her family on September26th, an activity that her husband loved to do. Sarah Allen, Area Director for AFSP North Texas will take some time to self-care by going on a picnic with her family. Join the AFSP Tyler Experience Facebook page for additional recommendations for connection and having a meaningful virtual experience. We can't wait to see what you have planned!

The memory wall is a beloved staple of the Tyler Out of the Darkness Experience, and we are excited to offer a virtual memory wall this year! Please follow the link below to submit photos of yourself, your loved ones, or whomever you are joining us to celebrate in remembrance or of your loved ones.
