Virtual Walk Ceremony
Thank you for joining the Sacramento State’s Active Minds Chapter, Student Health and Counseling Services and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Greater Sacramento Area Chapter for the 10th Annual Out of the Darkness Sacramento State Virtual Campus Walk.
The event theme for this year is Hornet Family, Apart but Not Alone. With the recent global events, it is important now more than ever to bring light to the conversations of suicide prevention and mental health support. By registering, you are showing support for survivors, students at risk, and those who have been affected by suicide. Mental health is an extremely important factor in the success of our students, faculty, and staff and we hope you will continue to support the cause through this event from afar.
And don't forget to use the Activity Tracker to be active while FUNdraising!
Help Spread the Word!
Encourage everyone you know to DONATE, and JOIN the movement to save lives!
This is a call for all students, organizations, departments, faculty, staff, and community members to come together and not only remember and honor those whose lives have been lost to suicide, but to take action to help raise awareness surrounding the topic of mental health and suicide so no one ever feels alone or afraid to seek support or services.
Please help promote the event through your social media outlets! Use #HopeWalksHere and #OutoftheDarkness

Raise $100 by May 1 and receive an official Out of the Darkness Campus Walk T-shirt! Your shirt will be mailed directly to you following the event.
Remember, in addition to fundraising online, you will be able to turn in additional cash or check donations until June 30. For information on how to turn in cash or checks email Lyoung@afsp.org.
Team Donations — Donations can be made to a team, BUT the T-shirt and other incentives are based only on INDIVIDUAL fundraising. Any donations made to the team as a whole will not go to any of the team members' individual fundraising totals.
So please fundraise as an individual by sending friends and family to your personal page, and ask for a team "sponsorship" from local businesses, clubs, etc. and use it as a way to ask for donations during a team fundraising event!
Walk donations are accepted until June 30, 2021.
When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow AFSP to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.
As the leader in the fight against suicide, and thanks to walkers like you from cities across the country, AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025.
