The safety and well-being of our participants, volunteers, and staff is our top priority. We will be closely monitoring the safety guidelines and regulations given by the school/county/state, and will have an in-person walk and/or smaller in-person events as long as it is safe to do so.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation, as well as your dedication to preventing suicide.

Welcome to the Out of the Darkness

Central Texas Round Rock ISD Campus Walk

04/24/2021

Due to COVID19, in lieu of gathering at Stony Point High School we are encouraging participants and their teams to safely walk throughout neighborhoods and parks all across our community on the same day, in honor of the person(s) for whom they walk. This is an opportunity to bring our messages of hope and awareness to the places we call home!

We would still like to connect with you in person in a way that keeps you and our volunteers safe while following the CDC and local guidelines. As a result, we've been working hard on the Drive to Fight Suicide Out of the Darkness Campus Event. At this event you will be able to pick up T-shirts and resources, participate in a memorial event, drop off donations, and purchase merchandise.

Your involvement increases awareness, funds scientific research, and provides resources and aid to those impacted by suicide. With your help, we can bring the issue of suicide Out of the Darkness and create a culture that's smart about mental health.

Raise $100 by 04/24/2021 and receive an official Out of the Darkness Campus Walk T-shirt!

Remember, in addition to fundraising online, you will be able to turn in additional cash or check donations at the registration table the day of the Walk (if happening in person).

Team Donations — Donations can be made to a team, BUT the T-shirt and other incentives are based only on INDIVIDUAL fundraising. Any donations made to the team as a whole will not go to any of the team members' individual fundraising totals.

So please fundraise as an individual by sending friends and family to your personal page, and ask for a team "sponsorship" from local businesses, clubs, etc. and use it as a way to ask for donations during a team fundraising event!

Activities of Hope & Healing

Honor Beads

Losing someone to suicide or struggling with a mental health condition can sometimes feel as if no one understands what you are going through. Wearing honor beads the day of the walk is a way to show each other that we are all connected to the cause, and that no one is alone.

There is an honor bead for everyone, whether you have lost a loved one, struggle personally, support a friend and/or family member, or all of the above.

The Out of the Darkness Campus Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, support, and a walk that unites a campus and community – a time to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental illness have affected our lives and our loved ones.

Online registration closes at noon the Friday before the walk. However, anyone who would like to participate can register in person at the walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Walk donations are accepted until June 30th.

When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow AFSP to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.

As the leader in the fight against suicide, and thanks to walkers like you from cities across the country, AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025.
