Welcome to our first Annual Paws for Prevention Walk at Colburn Park in Lebanon, NH. We all know how important our pets our to us, but it has found that the bond between people and their pets can lower stress and feelings of loneliness, and bring happiness to their owners.
Activities will include raffles, local police K9 Unit demonstration, agility activities, photo contest and more!
Register yourself or a team today for this one-of-a kind event. Donate or raise $25 by June 19 and your pup will receive an AFSP paws bandana. Donate or raise $100 by June 1 and earn a Paws for Prevention T-Shirt!
Although fundraising is optional and there is no minimum fundraising requirement (and no fee to walk), each dollar raised helps us deliver suicide prevention programs both in New Hampshire and nationally. With last year's fundraising, and despite COVID-19, the AFSP New Hampshire Chapter was able to educate over 1,500 New Hampshire residents on suicide prevention. Your donations also contributed to over $5.3 million in scientific research grants awarded by AFSP to support studies that will increase our understanding of suicide or test treatments and other interventions that save lives. As a Chapter we continue to offer Healing Conversations, a peer to peer program for loss survivors.
There are 3 small things you can do to kick-start your fundraising work:
Personalize your fundraising page online. Telling your story will make those who see your page feel more emotionally connected to you and the cause. If you're a team captain, be sure to personalize your team page!
Donate to yourself, even just a modest sum of $10, to show others you are committed to the cause. It's easier to ask others for money if they see you have also donated.
Share your page and story with others. It's OK to ask for donations! And you may have to ask several times – that’s OK too!
RESOURCES FOR THOSE WHO LOVE AND WORK WITH ANIMALS
Our Chapter now offers TALK SAVES LIVES WORKPLACE, which is a great 45 minute introduction to bring to your office, veterinary clinic etc. Learn about the science behind suicide, risk factors and warnings signs, as well as how to reach out and ask for help or support someone in crisis. Thanks to generous donations, the AFSP New Hampshire Chapter can offer this presentation at no cost to anyone interested. Schedule your presentation today by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
For $250, businesses can show their support to the suicide prevention mission by contributing a tax-deductible financial gift as a sponsor. We also accept in-kind donations and goodies that we can use for challenges or raffle. You have until May 31, 2021 to have your logo added to the official NH Paws for Prevention Walk T-shirt given to everyone who raises $100 or more by June 1 at midnight. For more details, please contact Event Chair Jessica Keene at email@example.com.
