Join Me in Supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Depression and suicide are far too common in our world. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for college students, and the third for youth ages 15-24. This cause is a complicated one, as we must push past stigma and a lack of understanding to gather support without the help of shiny pink ribbons or giddy ice-bucket challenges. Depression's grip on us is not always visible -- victims do not share some kind of common physical symptom that allows us to immediately recognize someone who needs help. This disease looks out through eyes that may seem radiantly happy to the outside world. And so we must go deeper, we must challenge ourselves to see the signs and to begin to understand.

We, as a society, have not quite found a way to really talk about depression and suicide, but it is imperative that we do. We must fight this fight, to help with a cause that is so profoundly human it is sometimes too painful to fully consider.

I'm walking in the Out of the Darkness Johns Hopkins University Campus Walk to fight suicide and support AFSP's bold goal to reduce the suicide rate 20% by 2025.

Please help me reach my goal by clicking the "Donate" button on this page. All donations are 100% tax deductible and benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), funding research, education, advocacy, and support for those affected by suicide.

Please, however you can help, please join this fight. This is something so near to my heart, and I'd love to have you here fighting with me.

Thank you so much for your support!

with love,

Marina
