My beautiful fiancée Rachel and I had discussed participating in 46 Climbs after I met a wonderful couple on Phelps Mtn. Once we discussed what 46 Climbs stood for I knew this was definitely something we could fully support. I later told Rachel about there 46 Climbs and iys support for the AFSP. Rachel had been living with the pain of losing her big brother to suicidefor 11 years. We had full intentions of sponsering a team this year and hiking as a family to raise awareness. In the blink of an eye on the evening of April 10th on her way home from work, less than 2 miles from our home her life was taken by an impaired driver. Three weeks earlier to the day I had proposed to the love of my life who I'd spent 8 years with. So now I've started a 46 climbs team in loving memory of my love Rachel Elizabeth and also her big brother Caleb.
I will be participating in 46 Climbs for Suicide Prevention to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). I would appreciate any support that you give me for this worthwhile cause.
AFSP is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. With more than 38,000 lives lost each year in the U.S. and over one million worldwide, the importance of AFSP's mission has never been greater, nor our work more urgent.
I hope you will consider supporting my participation in this event. Any contribution will help the work of AFSP, and all donations are 100% tax deductible.
