Team Captain Awaken Portsmouth Walk

Join Me in Supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

I'm walking in the Out of the Darkness Portsmouth Walk to fight suicide and support AFSP's bold goal to reduce the suicide rate 20% by 2025.

Please help me reach my goal by clicking the "Donate" button on this page. All donations are 100% tax deductible and benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), funding research, education, advocacy, and support for those affected by suicide.  Thank you for your support!

I started walking with AFSP 7 years ago. This will be my 8th year. When I started walking, I was recently discharged from the hospital for a second suicide attempt. This has been very hard for me to talk about, my goal here has been to not only to help myself, but help others. Now, I feel that I need to share more of why I continue to participate in this much needed fundraiser.

My battle with Depression and Anxiety started when I was a teenager. I thought when I grew up, things would be different. I would be able to have control over my life. This is not so. The more I try to escape my Mental Disability, the stronger my Depression would become. I am now in my mid-30s with not much improvement in my Depression and Anxiety. What I have done is created a positive group of people, aware of my struggles that can help me at any moment. I am very lucky. I attend therapy weekly and try to keep toxic people at an arm’s length.

I walk for myself. I walk for my children. I walk for those I have loved and lost. I walk for those who do not understand.  I walk for those who continue to struggle.

Please consider helping this most worthy cause in any way that is possible. Donations are great. Can’t Donate, no problem, Join my team – Awaken – and walk with me. Walking is not your thing, that’s fine, pass the word along.

Some of the happiest people around you are struggling with daemons that you will never see. Please, above all things, be kind.

Creatively yours,

~Ms. Renda
