In January 2011 my younger brother, Mark, lost his long battle with bipolar disorder and took his own life. Since that time my wife, Donna, and I have participated in several of the AFSP “Out of the Darkness” walks. We have been privileged to meet and share stories with families and friends of suicide victims and those still struggling with suicide.
This June I will be ticking off one of my bucket list items, a motorcycle ride to the Arctic Circle and beyond. Since I will be in the Land of the Midnight Sun where there is no darkness, I thought that it would be a great opportunity to continue to help raise awareness for suicide and suicide prevention. I will be near the Arctic Circle on the Summer Solstice and am calling the adventure the Into The Light Ride.
The event received some welcomed press coverage on the day of my departure: http://stamford.itsrelevant.com/content/18843/Stamford-Man-Begins-Motorcycle-Journey-to-Alaska-
