Fourteen years ago we lost my sister-in-law Carol to suicide.  Looking for support, I found the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).  This organization has taught me that it is okay to talk about mental health and suicide.  You can't solve anything by hiding it, so I decided to become a voice for change.  

In New Jersey, on average one person dies by suicide every 13 hours.  Nearly twice as many people die by suicide in NJ annually than by homicide. Therefore, education is so important.  Monies raised are used to bring programs into the community like Mental Heath First Aide, SafeTalk and Talk Saves Lives. 

On October 19th, we are having the 3rd Annual Unplugged for AFSP.  It's a night of great music from musician within the tri-state area.  The location is the Basking Ridge Fire House, 30 Washington St, Basking Ridge, NJ.  07920.  The door open at 6:30 pm.

In honor of the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock our theme this year is "Back to the Garden."
