We are joining the community of nearly 250k people walking in hundreds of cities across the country in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. We walk in honor of Lukas Pender, whose young life was cut short by suicide in 2012.
During his way too short time on earth, Lukas was a shining light to many. Since suicide took him from us on November 8, 2012 the world has been a little less bright. Lukas was an artist, a poet, a musician and a champion for social justice. We could only imagine what he could be contributing right now—-and in the future—-to the world... there is so much more to Lukas than what we can say in words.
Lukas' Mom, Susan, loves her son and wants our love and memory of Lukas to live on through actions and words. Help us reach our goal of 35 team members by joining our team. If you are unable to join us in person for the walk in Pasadena on Saturday, November 3rd, then you can join our team as a Virtual Walker.
Please help us reach our fundraising goal by donating to a team member. To donate online, please select "Roster" and then choose one of the team members listed. Once you're on their page, click "Donate Now." Donations can only be made to individuals, but the total each participant raises goes toward our team goal.
All donations are 100% tax deductible and will help bring AFSP one step closer to achieving their bold goal to reduce the suicide rate 20% by 2025.
