On September 1, 2018 I will be participating in 46 Climbs for Suicide Prevention to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). On this day, I will be hiking up Mount Norwottuck to raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental health. Living with any form of mental illness often has its highs and lows - just like the peaks and valleys of a mountain. In hiking to the top of Mount Norwottuck, I hope to honor both the highs and lows experienced by people with or affected by mental health struggles and suicide.
I will be hiking in memory of my brother as well as for anyone struggling with mental health.
The AFSP is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. They offer opportunities across the country for survivors and supporters to connect, heal, and raise awareness for suicide prevention. I have been fortunate enough to access these opportunities and hope, through fundraising, I can contribute to making programming and education available and accessible to others.
