My name is Yvette Johnston, I will run 10 half marathons in 10 weeks to raise awareness, resources & funds for people suffering from depression & for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. A very dear friend of mine died by suicide a short time ago. He suffered silently and we can only imagine the internal turmoil that existed within him to make him feel that the only option was to end his life.

350 million people in the world suffer from depression.
15% of those die by suicide.
1 is too many. 

Hopelessness and despair are naturally occuring at times in one's life but if left unattended or untreated can lead the most radiant of people to become introverted and emotionally paralyzed. We need to free the lines of communication and let others know we can all relate in one way or another and it does get better. We need more  & healthy resources for people who are embarrassed or scared and suffering. I will start here, honor my friend and do my best to help others suffering silently.
