We are pleased to announce the inaugural Santa Rosa Out of the Darkness Community Walk.
The Out of the Darkness Community Walks are 3-5 mile walks taking place in hundreds of communities across the country this year, with the proceeds benefiting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).
By walking in the Out of the Darkness Community Walks, you will be walking with thousands of other walkers nationwide to raise money for AFSP's vital research and education programs to prevent suicide and save lives, increase national awareness about depression and suicide, and provide support for survivors of suicide loss. In deciding to walk you are taking us a step closer to making suicide prevention a national priority.

Travel east on Hoen for 1.5 miles. Turn left onto Summerfield Road and continue for a half of a mile. The entrance to Howarth Park will be on the right side of the road, just past Sonoma Avenue. If you reach the tennis courts or Montgomery Drive, you have gone a little too far, so turn around and come back.
From INSIDE of Santa Rosa: Head towards the east side of town.
If you are taking either Hwy 12/Hoen Ave OR Sonoma Ave, you will be approaching the park from the south, which means you will make a left turn onto Summerfield Rd. The entrance to Howarth Park will be on the right side of the road, just past Sonoma Avenue.
If you are taking either Montgomery Dr or 4th Street/Sonoma Hwy, you will be approaching the park from the North. From Montgomery Dr, make a right turn onto Summerfield Rd. The entrance will be on the left side of the road, just past the tennis courts. From 4th Street/Sonoma Hwy, make a right turn onto Mission Blvd. At the second stop light on Mission, the road makes a 'Y'. Curve right onto Montogomery Dr. Once on Montgomery, the road makes a 'Y' at the next stop light. Curve/Turn left onto Summerfield Rd. The entrance will be on the left side of the road, just past the tennis courts.
Parking is currently free at Howarth Park. However, the parking lot fills rapidly, especially on the weekends, so you may wish to come early or be prepared to circle the lot for up to 20 minutes in order to get a parking spot. Parking is available on Summerfield Road and you can enter the park from there.
Please observe all rules of the road. This includes:
The Santa Rosa Police Department and Parking Enforcement do go through the parking lot on a regular basis several times throughout the day and do ticket vehicles NOT in compliance.

Handicap Parking: There are several handicap parking spaces, including one space near the snackbar, two near the boathouse, and several spaces by the gazebo/playground. Please be sure your permit is visible and valid!
