We are so happy you can join us for the 6th Annual Spotsylvania Out of the Darkness Community Walk. The walk will be at the Courthouse Village pavilion in Spotsylvania.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS & WALK DETAILS:
The walk route is close to 3.5 miles on a paved and flat asphalt surface. A map of the walk route is included in the SCHEDULE OF EVENTS PROGRAM.
The restrooms are located in the Spotsylvania Administrative building directly behind the pavilion.
Registration begins at 9:00am. Arrive early so that you can register, share your message on our new ribbon memory wall, pick up your memory beads, take your team or individual picture and gather important information. Also, enjoy a small cup of free coffee courtesy of one of amazing partners, Solid Grounds.
Memory beads are worn to honor and remember those we have loss to suicide or live with a mental illness. (red = loss of a spouse/partner, silver = loss of a child, blue = loss of sibling, gold = loss of a parent, purple = loss of a relative/friend, green = live with a mental illness, pink = support the cause)
The opening ceremony is scheduled to start at 10:00am. We have three amazing speakers this year that are going to share with you information pertaining to AFSP and their programs, MHAF and programs in our community, and SCS’s new program. The SCHEDULE OF EVENTS PROGRAM provides bio’s on our speakers this year.
Immediately following the opening ceremony we will need your help and patience taking our annual group picture.
The closing ceremony will begin close to 11:30am. Please spend some time viewing the ribbon memory wall and getting your team or individual picture taken. (We will wait for our last walker to finish the walk.)
Immediately following the closing ceremony, we will have food and beverages for everybody. We have been blessed to work with some amazing partners who provide food and their services each year including: Knight of Columbus, Food Lion, Famous Dave’s, and Noodles & Co.
Dogs are welcome. Feel free to bring your “best friend” to the walk but make sure they are on leash.
Finally, don’t forget to do some fund raising. A list of recognition gifts for your efforts can be found on the AFSP website.
