Please join us for the 5th South Metro Out of the Darkness Community Walk. We encourage you to walk with over 1,500 others to support suicide prevention on the 2.9 mile walk in Highlands Ranch.

The Out of the Darkness Community Walks are 3-5 miles in length and will take place in over 300 communities across the country this fall. The proceeds benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). By walking, you will be joining with thousands of others nationwide to raise money for AFSP's vital research and education programs to prevent suicide and save lives, increase national awareness about depression and suicide, and provide support for survivors of suicide loss. In deciding to participate by walking, sponsoring or donating, you are taking us a step closer to making suicide prevention a national priority.
This year, we are again hosting the South Metro Out of the Darkness Community Walk which will take place near National Suicide Prevention Week on Saturday September 6th, 2014 at Highlands Ranch High School. Our goals are to create more awareness, honor loved ones, raise funds for research, education, and advocacy, and reach out to people with mental disorders as well as those impacted by suicide.
The 2014 South Metro, Out of the Darkness Community Walk goal is $150,000 and funds raised help to provide AFSP materials & resources through cause related events/activities and speaking/training engagements in Colorado including:

South Metro Community Walk:
All participants should check in at Registration to receive a free “Out of the Darkness” wristband - (required for free Blue Bell ice cream and other snacks)
- Select and wear colored honor beads, choosing color coded Beads to signify your relationship to a lost loved one.
Visit the Memory Area:
- Customize a memory key chain - $2 suggested donation
- Honor your loved one at the Memory Tree and view the 2010/2011/2012/2013 Memory Boards.

The South Metro Out of the Darkness Community Walk for several years has had a butterfly release during opening ceremonies to honor loved ones lost to suicide. This year, walkers will have the unique opportunity to release their own butterfly
Credit cards will be accepted this year for donations and purchases at the Silent Auction, AFSP and Memory Areas. Please note there will be a $5.00 minimum on credit card purchases so feel free to bring cash for smaller items and donations.
Opening ceremonies– begins at approximately 9:45 am.

Outlets at Castle Rock’s 9th Annual Shopping Extravaganza

The Outlets at Castle Rock is hosting its ninth annual, Shopping Extravaganza event benefiting American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) - Colorado Chapter on Saturday, September 20th, from 10 AM to 6 PM. This all-day event will feature exclusive shopping discounts, more than $70,000 in prize giveaways, a catered lunch, dessert bar and more. It is the best shopping day of the year!
In 2013, the Shopping Extravaganza helped raise $25,000 for participating charities. Tickets to the event are $20 per person. $10 dollars of each ticket sold goes to AFSP. Tickets are available by sending an email to Colorado@afsp.org or online at (There is a $2.09 charge for tickets purchased by credit card on this site. Be sure to check the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention box as your non-profit/charity of choice! See flyer below)
