Walk Details & Activities:

The 2014 Community Walk will have all of our Remembrance Activities and program details as well as new additions and a new route!

Our New Route:

Our new walk route will be approximately 3 miles over level and mostly paved surfaces that is very accesible to all of our walkers. We will begin and end at Mission Creek Park and will walk along the Embarcadero and the scenic waterfront. If you would like to walk only part of the walk route, you will be able to turn back at any point, and we will have event volunteers along the way to help with questions.

Remembrance Activities:
  • We will be taking submissions for our Remembrance Video that grows each year. If you would like to include a photo and text of your loved one or words of encouragement, please email us with your photo and/orquestions.
  • We'll also have our Photo Display Wall near the Remembrance Video Tent as well and all participants are welcome to bring a photo of their loved ones to place on this display. Note: please bring copies of your photo that are not originals in case of accidental damage.
  • Honor Beads will be available to all participants and you are welcome and encouraged to take beads to wear on the day of the walk. If you would like to know more about the Honor Beads, click here to find out what they signify.
  • Lifekeeper Memory Quilts will be on display as well, and you can contact us to be a part of the quilt project here in the Bay Area.
Volunteer With Us on Walk Day:

Volunteer with us on Walk Day and help us make the San Francisco Out of the Darkness Community Walk a success. Our walk is planned and managed by Volunteers just like you, and we would love to have your help on the day of the walk.

We'll have volunteers helping with everything from Event Set Up & Breakdown to Food and Beverage Stations, the Honor Bead Tent, Route Support, Prize Giveaways, and much more!

Email us if you are interested in helping with the walk or if you have any questions about Volunteering with us.

Sponsorship Opportunities:

Our generous local sponsors help make our Bay Area Out of the Darkness Walks possible. Sponsoring a walk is a great way for local businesses to support their communities and to be more visible.

If you know a business owner or local company that might want to sponsor one of the Bay Area walks, email us, or send them the sponsor packet.

2014 Bay Area Lifesavers Club:

These individuals are members of the 2014 Bay Area Lifesavers Club, and have each contributed enormous amounts of time and resources in raising more than $1,000 individually for the San Francisco Out of the Darkness Walk.
