Dear Friends,

April 10, 2008… The reason why I walk.

On this day I lost a very important person in my life, my brother.

I am walking to help raise money with AFSP for Suicide Prevention Research and Educational Programs. Depression is very real and affects many people that we interact with on a daily basis - many suffer silently. With suicide at an all time high - let's get together and raise money to help those in need and those who have suffered & are no longer with us.

Close to one million people make a suicide attempt each year and every 16 minutes someone dies by suicide in the United States. More than 90 percent of people who die by suicide have an underlying mental illness, most often depression. More than 24 million people suffer from depression or another mood disorder each year. Suicide affects people of all age groups and socio-economic backgrounds. It is the fourth leading cause of death among adults 18-65 & the third leading cause of death among teens and young adults.
