My name is Mike and in March of 2011, I had no clue know how many people suicide affected.  One week after this photo was taken at my fathers birthday, my brother John (right) took his own life. Clearly one of my worst days as my brother was key in every aspect of my life growing up. Like all brothers, we surfed, played soccer, ran, biked and grew up doing triathlons together. He is gone early, but will always be with me on race day. Amazingly as I began to talk about this event in my life a few years later, I found that numerous friends had also lost brothers to suicide as well. Tragic on all levels.

On August 29-30th I will be running the Julian Station Full Moon 12/24 Hour Run in the mountains east of San Diego. There is no set distance but my goal is to make to at least 75-80 miles or more. I have done 6 50k's and a 50 miler over the last few years. This will definetly be a tough challenge running all day & night.  I thought what better way to show we can all keep moving forward even when things are tough and it gets dark. But when we keep going, the light always returns.

Phil 4:13 - 'I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me'

I am asking you for a donation, no matter how big or small, that will all go to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). 50% of the funds raised will go directly to my local AFSP-San Diego Chapter and the other 50% will go to AFSP-National. The AFSP is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Every donation is deductible as a charitable contribution as allowed by law. AFSP's tax ID number is 13-3393329.

The AFSP is the only national not-for-profit organization exclusively dedicated to funding research, developing prevention initiatives, and offering educational programs and conferences for survivors, mental health professionals, physicians, and the public. All of the proceeds to benefit the AFSP.

Thank you and God Bless.
