Online registration closes at noon (local time) the Friday before the walk. However, anyone who would like to participate can register in person at the walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Registration is free and open to the public. Walk donations are accepted until December 31st.
When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.
Thanks to Walkers and Donors like you, AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025.

EARLY TEAM CHECK-IN!
To avoid possible long lines on Walk day, team captains are invited to Creve Coeur Park (same location as event site) to check-in their team on Friday, Sept. 28, 5-8 pm.
Team captains will get any t-shirts earned by walkers on the team. Also, they will be able to turn in any additional donations.
Parking/Transportation: Additional parking for the event will be held at the Pattonville High School parking lot. Shuttle buses will be available for all participants to and from the event site. Parking is still available at Creve Coeur Park, but we encourage all walkers to carpool, Uber or Lyft to alleviate parking congestion.

The Walk is 3.8 miles on a paved path and has water stations along the route.

All kids (age 11 and younger) can raise funds for our Out of the Darkness Walk!

Every year, at our AFSP Out of the Darkness Walk, we have photographs of our loved ones on display. If you would like to have a photograph of your loved one at this year’s walk, please email a photo and put "Walk Photo" in the subject line, and include in the body of the email the person's name, and any brief message you'd like displayed with the photo to: email@example.com (PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A NEW EMAIL ADDRESS FOR PHOTOS THIS YEAR).
Photo file type should be jpeg and a high enough resolution that it can be enlarged to 8x10 without getting grainy. If you would like, you can send more than one photo, and a collage can be created. Because of space limitations, each loved one will have only one poster/collage.
Lifekeepers Memory Quilts: You will have the opportunity at the walk to have your loved one’s photo/poster made into a permanent fabric square on our memory quilt. For a $5.00 fee to offset the costs, you can reserve a spot on our next quilt for your loved one and all the work will be done for you. I still have the electronic files of previous years' walk photos, so if you walked in the past and would like me to use the same photo, just please send an email letting me know that.
When you send your photo, you will receive a reply from me stating that I received it. If you don't receive a reply within 3 days, please resend.

There are many more social media outlets, please use any and all to help promote the event. Tell your story about why you walk!
Remember, in addition to fundraising online, you will be able to turn in additional cash or check donations at the registration table the day of the Walk.
