The Pleasant Grove High School Campus Walk is still happening virtually, so you can continue to raise awareness & funds while asking others to join you as a Virtual Walker.

The safety and well-being of our participants is our top priority. We know that these are uncertain times, and if you are feeling extra anxious please see the blog post from AFSP’s Doreen Marshall, Ph.D., on how to take care of your mental health in the face of uncertainty as well as 8 ways to manage our anxiety surrounding coronavirus.

There are still so many ways to continue to raise awareness and funds for the cause, and to “virtually” walk with us.

You will still receive a free shirt for raising $100!

We are excited to bring this event to you virtually through the following options to participate on Saturday, May 2nd from 11am-2:00pm. Here is how you can join the upcoming event and provide support for suicide prevention:

ACTIVITIES OF HOPE AND HEALING

      

Honor Beads

Losing someone to suicide or struggling with a mental health condition can sometimes feel as if no one understands what you are going through. Wearing honor beads the day of the walk is a way to show each other that we are all connected to the cause, and that no one is alone.

There is an honor bead for everyone, whether you have lost a loved one, struggle personally, support a friend and/or family member, or all of the above.

The Out of the Darkness Campus Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, support, and a walk that unites a campus and community – a time to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental illness have affected our lives and our loved ones. 


Online registration closes at noon the Friday before the walk. However, anyone who would like to participate can register in person at the walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. Walk donations are accepted until June 30th.

When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow AFSP to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.

As the leader in the fight against suicide, and thanks to walkers like you from cities across the country, AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025.
