Drive to Fight Suicide
Out of the Darkness Denver Metro Event

Together to Promote Mental Health
Together to Prevent Suicide
Together to Honor Yourself & Loved Ones

While the Out of the Darkness Walks in Colorado are going to be different this year, our mission to Save Lives and Bring Hope to Those Affected by Suicide has not changed. Mental Health and suicide prevention are more important than ever. We are a strong and resilient community, united in our effort to fight suicide, raise awareness, educate our communities, support those who have lost loved ones, and support those with lived experience. We use our voices and share our stories to provide hope.

Although we will not be able to gather thousands of people inside of the Coors Field stadium, we are able to be in the mile-long parking lot outside of the stadium as we were in 2020. As a result, we will once again turn the 2021 Denver Metro Experience into a Drive to Fight Suicide Denver Metro Event where we can still connect with you.

We remain dedicated to providing you with opportunities to connect, heal, share stories, create impact, and show you that you are not alone.

We realize that nothing can substitute the experience of coming together in person, and we need to do that safely.  We invite you to drive through the Denver Metro Experience - entirely from your car.  Think of it like a lazy river with very short stops along the way to bring donations, pick up a t-shirt (if you raise $150 or more), get memory beads, ‘visit’ the resource, memory, & HOPE notes areas, and get a free ‘Bumper Badge’.

Day of the Drive: Resources & Activities

Resource Fair

Visit the Resource Fair area with hours (open-house style) from 9am-12pm.

Stop by the AFSP Canopy for AFSP reference materials and learn how to get involved with the AFSP Colorado Chapter.

Meet local professionals, counselors, staff and representatives from mental health and suicide prevention organizations and businesses that support the cause.

Memory Area

Honor your loved one at the Memory Trees.

Please bring a copy of a picture of your loved one (4" x 6" or smaller) to honor them at the Memory Trees. Pictures will not be returned and may be displayed at future awareness and educational events.

Due to COVID-19, we will not be able to provide supplies this year, but we will be able to attach your photo to the tree.

Honor Beads

Losing someone to suicide or struggling with a mental illness can feel like no one understands what you are going through.

Unlike other illnesses, it is difficult to look at someone and know their connection. There is an honor bead for everyone, whether you have lost a loved one, struggle personally, support a friend and/or family member, or all of the above. Learn more by watching our honor beads video.

Hope Notes

Drive through the HOPE NOTES area & share your message that it is possible to overcome suicidal thoughts and feelings, and that there are many resources available to help those who are struggling to cope.

Bring a "Message of HOPE" for you, someone you know, or to provide strength to someone who might be struggling.

Please create your message on a post-it note at home and bring it to us at the event.

Due to COVID-19, we will not be able to provide supplies this year. However, we can transcribe a note for you if you'd like.

Thank you for your support! We look forward to seeing you at the

Denver Metro Drive to Fight Suicide Event!
