Join Me in Supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
In 2009, my brother, Lucas, died by suicide. His illness and death changed everything. I've now seen the agonizing toll of suicide and mental illness from almost every angle imaginable....as a sister, a daughter, a friend...while working in healthcare, both as a first responder and in primary care, as an advocate and yes, even as a patient. We must do better. We have to call on our courage and give voice to the heartbreak too many of us know in our bones. Without shame. Without fear. Because WE ARE NOT ALONE. Shame can only live in silence and I'm not shutting up.
With gratitude & hope,
Kalie King Savage
I'm walking in the Out of the Darkness Portland OR Walk to fight suicide and support AFSP's bold goal to reduce the suicide rate 20% by 2025.
